Connect your apps to Todoist Automations

Automations connect securely to the apps you already use to get work done. Each connection determines what an automation can do in that app. Build automations that can add a task, send a message, or watch for updates like a new email or calendar event.

Varning

Todoist Automations is in beta. Access is limited to customers admitted from the waitlist. Features may change as improvements continue to roll out for the product.

See available apps

Automations currently supports connections to 51 third-party apps, including Calendly, Gmail, Google Calendar, GitHub, Notion, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Todoist. Each app supports actions (your automation performs tasks in that app), updates (your automation watches the app for changes), or both.

Observera

Push notifications are a built-in feature in Automations and don’t need an external app connection. They’re always available directly in the app.

Connect an app

Let's start by connecting an app to Todoist Automations:

  1. Click Connections in the navigation menu.
  2. Find the app you want to connect and click on it.
  3. Click Connect under Connection for actions, Connection for updates, or both.
  4. Follow the onscreen authorization steps for that app.

You can connect more than one account for the same app, like a work Gmail and a personal Gmail. If you've authorized two or more accounts for an app connection, check or manage them any time by selecting Connections in the navigation menu.

Snabbtips

Additional apps are added regularly. If you don’t see the tool you need, open Todoist Automations and describe what you want to do in the chat bar. The Automations preview often presents a workaround.

Disconnect an app

If you no longer want to use an integration or you’re troubleshooting a broken setup, you can remove a connection any time:

  1. Click Connections in the navigation menu.
  2. Find the app you want to disconnect and click on it.
  3. Click Connected, then click Disconnect under your active connections.
  4. Follow the onscreen confirmation steps to remove the integration.

If an enabled automation still depends on that connection, Automations blocks the disconnection and lists the automations you need to disable first.
