In the beginning, there was no company. No team. No bigger vision.

There was just a stressed-out computer science student needing order amidst a demanding life and study schedule. So he built a simple tool to manage it all, which he named Todoist.

Turns out, he wasn't alone in his need to get everything out of his head, and into an organized system. The audience grew. The team grew. And the tool and company evolved side by side out of the same original intentions: autonomy, flexibility, powerful leverage – never at the expense of simplicity. That ethos led to Todoist’s success as a market-leading task management tool, used by tens of millions of people and teams the world over.

Does it solve all the world's problems? No. Does it make a whole lot of lives a whole lot better? According to our customers and team, who have been living in that future for well over a decade: hell yes it does.

So much so, in fact, that we’ve expanded our vision: to be the end-to-end productivity platform that empowers a billion people to bring their ideas to life.

Our values are genuinely operationalized in everything we do – we regularly call upon them when building processes, making decisions, and sharing feedback with and gratitude for each other.

We've been remote and async since 2011, before the pandemic normalized it. It was just how we thought good work should happen. Everyone gets the space to do deep, uninterrupted work. We cap the workweek at 40 hours. We get 40 work days and 12 health days off per year. (We all take it! Even our CEO.) And when we're out, we're actually out.

Still, we never underestimate the value of in-person connection, which is why we meet up as an organization twice a year in special places around the globe.
