Slack is a cloud-based team collaboration tool. It offers chat rooms (channels) organized by topic as well as private groups and direct messaging. All content inside Slack is searchable, including conversations, links, files, and people. With this integration, you can create, assign, and complete tasks from within a Slack channel or direct message.
Setting up the integration
There is no need to set the integration up. You can just do it in chat when creating an automation. However, if you want to:
- Sign in to your Todoist account.
- Visit https://app.todoist.com/automations/connections.
- Find Slack in the list of connected services and click on it.
- Click the Connect button.
Using the integration
Use Slack as a step in an automation
When creating a new automation, you can include Slack actions as part of the workflow. For example:
- When a task is added to #marketing-requests, send an email to the team lead and add a due date 3 days from now
- Every Monday at 9am, post a summary of overdue Todoist tasks to #standup
Hinweis
Run an automation manually
Go to the relevant automation, and click Run now to trigger it on demand.

Is this the same as the Todoist Slack integration?
No. The Todoist Slack integration lets you create, complete, and assign individual tasks from Slack. Todoist Automations is a separate product that lets you build multi-step workflows that can involve Slack, Todoist, email, and other services. You can use both integrations side by side.
