Add the official Todoist plugin in ChatGPT to manage your tasks without leaving the conversation. Once it’s connected, ChatGPT can read, create, and update the tasks and projects in your Todoist account, so you can plan your week, capture ideas, or tidy your Inbox right in the chat.

Connect the Todoist plugin
- Open ChatGPT.
- Select Plugins in the sidebar to open the plugin directory.
- Search the directory for Todoist.
- Select the official Todoist plugin.
- Click the plus icon to connect it. A tab opens in your browser.
- Log in to your Todoist account.
- Approve the requested permissions.
Once the plugin is set up, type /todoist in any ChatGPT conversation to bring it up. Describe what you want in plain language.
Use the Todoist plugin
Once connected, ChatGPT can work with your Todoist account in multiple ways, including:
- Read your tasks and projects.
- Create new tasks and projects.
- Update what’s already there, such as renaming a task, shifting its date, or moving it to another project.

Privacy and data handling
Connecting the Todoist plugin means your data moves between Todoist and ChatGPT. On the Todoist side, the data is covered by Todoist’s privacy policy; once it reaches ChatGPT, it also falls under OpenAI’s privacy policy. In Todoist, open Settings > Integrations to review the permissions you’ve granted at any time.
Disconnect the Todoist plugin
If you no longer want to use the Todoist plugin in ChatGPT, disconnect it from both sides.
Disconnect the plugin in ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT in your browser, or open the ChatGPT desktop app.
- Select Plugins in the sidebar.
- Search for Todoist.
- Select Todoist.
- Click the three-dot menu (•••) next to the plugin.
- Click Disconnect. In the ChatGPT desktop app, this is labeled Uninstall.
Remove the connection in Todoist
- Open Settings > Integrations.
- Select ChatGPT.
- Click Remove.
Troubleshoot the Todoist plugin
The OAuth window doesn’t open or keeps failing
Disable strict pop-up blockers for the sign-in flow, then try again.
You see “Sorry, something went wrong” after you click Allow access
This usually means your browser didn’t send a small security token (a CSRF token) that Todoist needs to finish authorizing. It isn’t a problem with your account. The common causes are blocked cookies for todoist.com, or a sign-in page that stayed open too long.
Try these steps in order:
- Use a normal browser window, not private or incognito, and allow cookies for todoist.com.
- Log in to Todoist in that same browser first.
- Turn off strict tracking protection, ad blockers, and privacy extensions for todoist.com, or try a different browser such as Chrome. Microsoft Edge’s tracking prevention is a common cause.
- Start the connection again and click Allow access without waiting too long.
- Clear todoist.com cookies and try once more if it continues.
ChatGPT is connected but can’t see or change your tasks
Reconnect from both sides:
- Remove the plugin in ChatGPT using the steps in Disconnect the plugin in ChatGPT above.
- Revoke access in Todoist using the steps in Remove the connection in Todoist above.
- Reconnect using the steps in Connect the Todoist plugin above.
ChatGPT asks you to approve every change. Can you turn that off?
That prompt comes from ChatGPT, not Todoist. Because the Todoist plugin can change your data, ChatGPT adds a confirmation step before it writes anything. This isn’t a setting Todoist controls.
You can still change how often ChatGPT asks. ChatGPT lets you set a permission level for the Todoist plugin, from “Always ask” to “Never ask”:
- In ChatGPT, open the Todoist plugin’s permission settings.
- Choose a less strict level, or “Never ask”, to reduce or remove the per-action prompts.
