Ramble brings voice capture to Todoist, but it's not your typical dictation feature. Rather than transcribing word-for-word, it actually understands what you're saying and creates structured tasks complete with dates, priorities, and project assignments. All from natural speech.

Here’s our CEO Amir to show you how it works:

The technology behind Ramble

Ramble uses AI to transform how you capture tasks. As part of Todoist Assist, Ramble leverages large language models (LLMs) to process your voice in real time. This means the AI can understand what you mean, not just what you say.

The technology recognizes over 40 languages, interprets your intent, and automatically structures your tasks with the right dates, priorities, and other details. It can even pick up on corrections and deletions as you speak naturally.

Start testing

Simply hit the waveform icon in Quick Add or the Sidebar, start talking, and Todoist will turn your stream-of-consciousness into actionable tasks in real time. You can review, select, or discard tasks before adding them to the Inbox by default or a specific project.

What makes Ramble different is that it’s context-aware, so it personalizes based on where you are in Todoist. You can dictate priority levels, dates, deadlines, and Todoist will work it out as you go. You can also edit or remove tasks live by saying so. When you’re done, just say “that’s it”.

Your audio is processed securely, and is not stored or used for training. The resulting tasks and their details are the only data saved in Todoist. Check our privacy policy for more details.

Share your feedback

Ramble is ready for testing on the web from v3825, limited to Experimentalists on paid plans.

If you run into issues or have feedback, you’ll find a Send feedback form in the Ramble popup inside Todoist. We’re eager to hear what you think as we continue to improve!

What’s next? Validating that this is useful to you, refining the functionality, and adding support for Ramble on our mobile apps.

Known issues

There are a few known issues to be aware of when testing:

  • Sometimes Ramble does not recognize specific languages so well (Dutch is one).
  • There may be issues with microphone permissions in certain setups; for example, with the laptop in clamshell mode.
  • Errors from the API (we need to implement a retry).
